Shiba Inu is back at the center of meme-token attention after its daily burn rate surged more than 52 times in the span of just 24 hours. More than 401 million SHIB tokens were permanently taken out of circulation, reviving the old scarcity narrative that often circles this project.

That coincided with a sharp rally. SHIB jumped about 36% in a single day to roughly $0.0000057, adding about $1 billion to its market value. But there was no clear project announcement or development behind the surge. This was a mechanics-driven move, not a step change in the project’s fundamentals.

A big driver was trading activity out of South Korea, especially on Upbit, helping propel SHIB and amplify momentum. Meme assets like SHIB can see attention and price action reappear rapidly, often keyed off easy-to-share numbers like burn counts rather than operational changes. But those burn events, while they reduce supply on paper, do not mean long-term price support unless new demand keeps building.

Other dog-themed tokens did not follow, so this was not a meme-sector rotation, just a very sharp SHIB-specific spike. The key point here: this type of rally shows how quickly speculative storylines can take hold, even when the underlying fundamentals are not changing with them.
