A Russian buyer says they found an extra chip, described as a spy component, inside a Ledger Nano X bought through the Ozon marketplace. The sharper takeaway is chain of custody: this does not point to Ledger’s device design, it points to what can happen once a wallet moves through a resale channel instead of going direct from Ledger or an official seller.

In a marketplace listing, buyers are trusting the platform, the merchant, and the packaging, and that opens more room for stock mixing, returns fraud, repackaging, or tampering before delivery. For a product whose security depends on untouched hardware, that resale environment can become the weak point even if the original device design is sound.

The tampered Ledger found on Ozon puts the retail supply chain under the microscope next.
