Zcash developers have now put a fixed date on their quantum-resistant signature plan: January 2027. That makes this more concrete than earlier broad warnings about quantum risk.
The first step targets Zcash’s transparent transactions. Developers plan to replace the current signature system there before taking on the more complex cryptography behind shielded transfers.
That staged rollout is the key point tonight. Zcash is starting with the simpler part of the network instead of trying to rebuild the full protocol at once, and January 2027 is now the delivery checkpoint for that first phase.
What matters next is whether developers publish firmer technical specifications and testing milestones that support that timeline.
