Winklevoss Asset Services has filed to launch a spot Zcash ETF on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK. Zcash is known for privacy protections, using zero-knowledge proofs to shield transaction data. The proposed fund would hold Zcash directly rather than through derivatives.
Zcash is up 4.9% today, outpacing the S&P 500, Nasdaq, gold, and the dollar, while the VIX is down more than 1%. ZEC is the standout performer in this set.
The Winklevoss proposal isn’t the first US-listed Zcash fund. Grayscale converted its trust to a full ETF back in August. But this new Nasdaq filing broadens the US crypto ETF field beyond products built around Bitcoin and Ethereum, and tests whether regulated demand is deep enough for a narrower, more specialized asset. The next checkpoints are whether the application clears the exchange-listing process and what, if any, stance the SEC takes on ZEC.
