On October 6, Ethereum tests the next Glamsterdam upgrade on Sepolia, not on mainnet. The switch is scheduled for 13:53:36 UTC at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768.
What changes is straightforward. Sepolia will trial a built-in version of proposer-builder separation, meant to reduce Ethereum’s dependence on external block builders. It will also test block-level access lists, which should make it easier for nodes and apps to see in advance what state data a block is likely to touch. And it will trial updated gas pricing rules designed to better reflect network resource use.
For now, this is a testnet checkpoint. Node operators need both their execution and consensus clients updated before activation, and there is still no mainnet date. The near-term focus is simple: whether Sepolia upgrades on time, whether clients stay compatible, and whether the changes avoid bugs, breakages, or unexpected shifts in cost.
In the market, Ethereum is still holding near $2,700, with resistance around $2,800.
