Strategy broke its usual pattern last week. Between October 19 and October 25, it did not buy any more Bitcoin. Instead, it spent about $204.9 million buying back its own STRC preferred shares.

That left its Bitcoin stash unchanged at 848,517 coins, bought for a total of $64.02 billion.

Strategy is saying that when those preferred shares trade below $100, the company may step in and buy them. In plain terms, management thought its own shares were cheap enough to support instead of adding more Bitcoin that week.

That matters because it shows the cash inside a Bitcoin treasury company does not have to go to Bitcoin every single time. In some weeks, management may choose to back its own stock first. The company also said those buybacks do not have to come only from cash already on hand, though it did not sell any Bitcoin during this period.

What to watch next is simple: whether Strategy goes right back to buying Bitcoin, or keeps using money to support its preferred shares instead.
