Treasury announced sanctions on March 12 against 6 individuals and 2 entities tied to North Korean IT-worker schemes. The action identified 8 distinct Ethereum and Tron addresses in fresh additions to the Specially Designated Nationals list. One Ethereum address, beginning with 0x4f47, appears across records and is also mirrored on Arbitrum and BNB Smart Chain. Treasury said North Korean IT-worker schemes generated nearly $800 million in 2024.
The detail matters because OFAC does not only name people and companies; it also publishes specific blockchain addresses as identifiers attached to sanctioned parties. OFAC lists each digital-currency address as its own SDN field, making it a machine-readable marker. That makes the enforcement action more specific than naming an organization alone, but it does not mean Tron itself is sanctioned.
Analytics firms still have a tracing task: connect listed wallets to counterparties and movement across networks. A static address list can flag direct contact; it will not, by itself, map every intermediary around a sanctioned network.
