Coinbase has launched regulated access to 10x leveraged bitcoin futures in Canada. The product went live on September 2 through Coinbase Financial Markets, with eligible users able to trade from a lineup of 23 crypto futures contracts.

The bitcoin contracts come in smaller, nano-sized formats, which lowers the upfront capital needed to open a position. At 10x leverage, a trader can control a position worth 10 times their initial margin.

The significance here is access. Coinbase is offering a regulated, domestic-facing route for leveraged crypto trading in a market where many users have relied on offshore or unregulated venues for that exposure. The launch also fits Coinbase’s broader push into derivatives across regional markets.
