Ripple made two moves at once: it added a bank partner in South Korea and raised fresh capital.

Jeonbuk Bank, part of JB Financial Group, is set to become the first regional bank in Korea to use Ripple Payments for cross-border business transfers. The practical point is speed: instead of international settlements that can take days and rack up extra costs, Ripple is pitching transfers that settle in seconds to minutes, 24/7. Ripple still has not given a launch date or said which asset will be used for settlement, but the tie-up gives it a regulated path into the Korean banking system.

Separately, Ripple closed a $275 million senior unsecured notes deal through Ripple Prime. That adds to the balance sheet as the company pushes deeper into bank distribution.

Together, those two developments show Ripple trying to grow on both fronts at once: more access to traditional finance, and more capital behind that expansion. XRP rose more than 6% around the news, but the more important test is whether this starts producing visible transaction growth.
