Metaplanet is taking the Bitcoin treasury company model global, announcing it will invest 2,100 Bitcoin and $2.5 million in Super League Entertainment, a Nasdaq-listed digital media group. This deal gives the Tokyo-based Bitcoin holder a 95.7% controlling stake, valued at around $134.6 million.

The key here isn’t just stacking more Bitcoin on balance sheets, but using Bitcoin to gain control of a U.S.-listed public company, turning Super League into what will soon be known as Superplanet. Once the deal closes, Metaplanet will hold 5 out of 9 board seats and agree to a 5-year lockup of its shares, effectively repositioning Super League from an operating business into a Bitcoin treasury platform for public markets. This makes Superplanet a launchpad for Metaplanet’s U.S bitcoin strategy without building from the ground up. The model is being exported by leveraging existing capital market infrastructure. What’s next is whether Superplanet completes the rebrand and formally operates as Metaplanet’s U.S. treasury arm, shaping how this playbook spreads further across public markets.
