Google said at its I/O event this week that it is pushing Gemini deeper into Search and YouTube. Search’s AI Mode now has more than 1 billion monthly users, and Google said queries have been more than doubling every quarter since launch. The company is also making Gemini 3.5 Flash the default model in AI Mode globally.
The changes extend beyond the model swap. Google is making the search experience more AI-led by moving beyond keyword inputs and allowing users to transition from AI Overviews into follow-up questions without leaving the results flow. Google said links and supporting sources remain part of the experience, but answers are increasingly being assembled before the click.
For crypto projects and publishers, the shift affects discovery as much as interface design. Token issuers, research sites, on-chain data platforms and YouTube creators have long depended on Google for distribution, and a more conversational search layer changes how users encounter that information. On YouTube, Google said the new features include conversational search tools and Gemini-powered creation aids, reinforcing AI as a more central layer in how crypto content is surfaced and navigated across its platforms.
